Another Year

So I am another year older!! EEEEK!! Not sure how much wiser! Lou celebrated his birthday October 27th. So for 15 days I can actually say that I have the opportunity to date an older man. Then November 11th comes along and I join him in his old age.
For Lou’s birthday we went to a Hurricanes hockey game vs. The Capitals. Lou is a Capitals fan so it was the perfect gift. We took our little princess with us. Can I tell you I was a paranoid freak the whole time! I promise you if anyone where we had been sitting as much as sniffled I was going to sit in the car. We started her on a bottle a few days before so we were able to take one for her feeding. Can’t go around pulling nips out everywhere you know! Everything was going great. I bought a Mobie so I could wear her close to me and she was sleeping like an angel up until the 2nd period. So I decided to hunt down a bathroom and get her changed. That is where most of my traumatizing experience took place. So many complete strangers reached out and touched her I thought I was going to lose it. I have decided, based on the research from that outing, that more people reach out and touch babies than a pregnant woman’s belly.  I couldn’t believe it. One lady in the bathroom who had just come out of a stall even tried to reach for her! That was it! I was a bit snooty and I turned away. Those that know me already know I am a germ-a-phobe! That was too much for me. Plus, I didn’t really want to be in a setting like that until she was at least 3 months old so I was on the edge. I would never forgive myself if she were to get RSV from our little outing. We all made it though, and 3 weeks later she still has a clean bill of health.
So we go to the doctor this week, both of us. I am very interested in seeing what she weights. She is plumping up quite nicely and has quite the appetite as well. It will be nice to see what percentiles she is in as far as length and weight. I can’t believe she is 6 weeks old already. It kind of seems as though she has always been here! I certainly notice the change when I have to time my grocery store visits and showers in between naps. The world certainly doesn’t revolve around me anymore…then again it never did so I won’t complain. Loving every step of the way and learning as we go.
